Summer 2013. Time to take a little jaunt around Europe methinks...what started out as 6 months travelling around the world has now been downsized to 3 countries in 3 weeks, but hey, we're in a recession...could be worse.
For a couple of years now we - my wife Debs and I, James - have talked about travelling with the kids - Jac (nearly 4), and Fern (2 and a half)....and next year has always seemed like the perfect opportunity...just before Jac starts school.
Our main inspiration was actually a bittersweet realisation at the funeral of our lovely, elderly neighbour, Joyce, that anything is possible and the only thing that stops you achieving your dreams is you.
Since then, as I said our plans have swung up and down like the RBS share price, but have settled - partly due to the RBS share price - at the lower end of our initial ambitions. That aside what we have planned will hopefully whet the appetite, break in our travelling boots and pave the way for future escapades on shores a bit further afield.
So join me as we plan, arrange and experience our 3 weeks in Croatia, Slovenia and Italy. You never know - if you are a young family wanting to do something a bit different to a weeks all inclusive then this might give you some inspiration.
